MASK WEARING
OR MASS KILLING?

A TIMES OF INDIA POWER OF PRINT CAMPAIGN

The Insight

Studies suggest that one asymptomatic COVID-19-positive person can transmit the disease to over 400 people in less than 30 days. As we are already aware, while the carrier of the disease may recover, if he/she ends up transmitting it to someone susceptible (the elderly / people with comorbidities), then it could be fatal.

• R-naught or R0 for the coronavirus infection is somewhere between 1.5 and 4, which means one infected person can further infect up to 4 people

• If precautions are not taken, such a high R0 can trigger a sudden increase in the spread of the virus

• Wearing a mask can block up to 90% of the virus particle, significantly reducing the risk of spread

The Idea

"If you willfully do not wear a mask, you are no different from someone guilty of a mass murder."
